If you decline the prepaid add-on, the vehicle's transponder will still record your tolls. You will be billed 14-21 days after your rental ends.

  • Plus $3.95 Admin Fee per day a toll is incurred.
  • Billed automatically to the card on file.

Citations & Admin Fees

The renter is 100% responsible for all traffic, parking, and camera citations. When Smart Cars Rentals receives a ticket tied to your rental agreement, we must legally transfer the liability to your name or pay it on your behalf. This incurs the following administrative processing fees in addition to the cost of the actual fine.

Red Light Camera Ticket
Florida strictly enforces red lights via cameras. Fee covers the transfer of legal liability to the renter's driver's license.

Automated speeding citations mailed to our headquarters requiring manual processing and payment/transfer.

Unpaid parking meters or illegal parking citations in Miami-Dade or Broward counties.

Towing & Impound Policy

If the rental vehicle is towed or impounded due to illegal parking, abandonment, or law enforcement action, the renter is responsible for 100% of the towing yard fees, storage fees, and an additional $250.00 Smart Cars Recovery Fee if our staff is required to retrieve the vehicle from the impound lot.
